I want this to be an old fashioned love,
where flowers,
holding doors,
and songs were enough.
Where a guitar string can move
more than just sound.
Boasting silver linings,
Better than cloud.
I want to touch with my fingers,
and feel with my heart.
I want sunsets to bend,
And first times to start.
Days without time,
Skies without limits,
Beauty with wonder,
And everything in it.
I want eyes that don’t see,
But ones that just know.
I don’t want distance to judge,
How far we’ll go.
So if you want to know,
Stay by my side,
And let’s live out this story…
One day at a time.

To You
Published April 14, 2014 by Amy ElizabethI will love you until
I can reach the stars
and hold them against my chest,
So that their light
Burns through my heart.
I love you because
You can turn the sunlight to night,
but my eyes still find you,
Beneath the dark.
When you can lose yourself
but be nothing but that,
that is how I love you.
Because loving someone else
isn’t on my list of wishes,
But I will wish on a million stars
until one carries me to you.
I want to wrap my hands around your heart,
and keep it together,
So the delicate stitching,
doesn’t fall apart.
I will love you until
the earth turns grey
and my eyes follow.
When the sky bends and
is no longer that shade of blue;
When your fingers no longer fit mine
better than gloves do,
I will still love you.
Because I have kept my forever
in a cage shaped box.
Of wire.
That burnt steel lines
on its walls.
that didn’t know love,
until you.
Lines
Published April 7, 2014 by Amy ElizabethEverything smells like it shouldn’t;
like the memories of you cling
to the wrinkles in the sheets,
Just enough to make imprints on my body that feel
Permanent.
Like you’ve stolen time I can’t afford to give away.
And every time I look,
The lines are deeper.
So here’s my farewell:
Simply for a while.
So the lines have time to
Realise,
That going too deep
Will only hurt you.
Take Mine
Published April 6, 2014 by Amy ElizabethEvery time my thoughts wander away,
My heart forgets to beat,
And I wrote it all down
So you can’t steal the words with the way you look at me.
Every tear I shed
You take away from me,
And save them for a darker day,
So you can give them to the clouds to rain the grey away.
Every time you speak it’s like shooting stars hit my chest and my lungs forget what it’s like to breathe.
If I could trace every part of you,
From fingertips to memories,
Then I would never let you go.
I would store every word you say on tapes,
So I could play on them repeat
And hear them with every heartbeat,
Until I could recite them without that need.
I realised,
That beyond your darkened eyes
Are artists who sketch down every part of me.
But they’re so busy sometimes,
They forget to draw breath
So here:
Take mine.
